Although the scheduling module suffices for simple scenarios, or scenarios where precise movement is unimportant, there are cases which require a more realistic approach to movement between cells.
The transport module provides a simple pathfinding solution, using a connectivity graph overlaid on the cells. It represents each cell as a one-dimensional line with connection points to other cells along it. This gives cells a notion of "length", but not area. Thus, the connection points are the nodes of the graph, and the cell fragments between connection points are edges. Although limited, this has provided sufficient expressivity to date.
This module was a core component in modelling Sydney Central Station.
